Location Data: We collect precise GPS location data (using precise coordinates) only when the App is actively open and in use (foreground). This is required for mapping exploration sites, check-ins, and verifying locations. We store locations you save to your personal or group vaults.
Camera, Photos, and Media: With your permission, the App accesses your device's camera and photo gallery to allow you to upload images of locations. These media files are securely uploaded and stored on our cloud infrastructure (AWS S3). We extract metadata, including raw GPS EXIF data from uploaded photos, solely for internal location verification purposes; this raw EXIF data is never exposed publicly or via our API.
App Activity, Authentication, and Gamification: We track your interactions within the App, including earned experience points (XP), badges, quest progress, custom tags, and your social graph. User authentication (including email addresses and securely hashed passwords) is managed through our self-hosted identity provider, ensuring your login credentials remain strictly under our control.
Device and Security Data: For push notifications and security, we collect device IDs, push notification tokens, and platform details. For abuse prevention and auditing, we log events using hashed IP addresses and user-agents, ensuring network data is not stored in a raw, identifiable format.

3. How We Use Your Data#

We use your data only when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we use it for:
